Iron Tip Care Guide
1. Tin the tip before first use and after each use
2. Clean with a damp sponge or brass wool between joints
3. Never file or sand the tip - it removes the plating
4. Use tip tinner/activator to restore oxidized tips
5. Turn off or reduce temperature when not in use
6. Apply a blob of solder to the tip before storing
General Temperature Guidelines
Through-hole components: 315-370C (600-700F)
SMD components: 315-345C (600-650F)
Large ground planes: 370-400C (700-750F)
Sensitive components: 260-315C (500-600F)
